Likinsky bus plant presented a new modification of its model. The presentation was held in the Chelyabinsk region. Our channel found out why it took to go to the South Urals.

The use of liquefied methane as motor fuel on vehicles is a perspective direction. The technique on the liquefied natural gas, compared with the compressed (compressed), has two significant advantages: less outfit weight, and, accordingly, less loss in carrying capacity / passenger capacity, and a large stroke stock.

Based on these criteria and characteristics, our autbus structures began to refer to the topic of creating equipment on liquefied natural gas (LNG). While this is noticed Liaz and Belarusian MAZ.

Technique

Judging by the photo represented, an externally, a new bus is practically no different from its diesel analogues. The lounge has a low floor throughout the interior area, air conditioning, an upparel and a wheelchair place in the accumulative platform. Total passenger capacity — 106 people.

In the stern — the YAMZ-536 engine, and next to it is a cryobac of 375 liters of liquefied gas, which is contained there at a temperature of -160 ° C. This stock should be enough for more than 300 km in the city mode of movement: at least one or two shifts. The submitted bus will in the near future will take place test operation in Chelyabinsk. According to her, the Gas Group will decide on the release of an experienced party of similar buses in the fourth quarter of this year.

But Liaz may be late because in Chelyabinsk as part of the implementation of the «Clean Air» program it was decided to purchase urban buses both on a compressed (compressed) natural gas and on liquefied. And the direct riase competitor Minsk Automobile Plant took part in this project. The project for buses operating on liquefied methane, together with Russian partners, was launched in Minsk in the fall of 2018. In December 2018, a meeting was held on which the Chelyabinsk region was promised that MAZ at his own expense will make samples of passenger equipment operating on liquefied methane and provide them with operational tests. At the same time, the car factory signed a roadmap for this project with the Chelyabinsk region. And in April 2019, the MAZ made prototypes of 12 meter and 9 meter buses operating on LNG. The Minsk Automobile Plant became the first in the CIS countries, which created such cars and officially received on them. Last May last year, Minsk buses arrived in Chelyabinsk for testing.

Ural motor velocities were measured by fuel consumption, assessed compliance with the stated technical parameters. According to the test results, it turned out that compared to the similar technique of Asian manufacturers, which was previously operated in Chelyabinsk earlier, the MAZ buses on LNG were approximately 40% more economical.

Last years, contests were announced for the supply of a large class of LIGH-class buses to Chelyabinsk and the same amount on the CPG. In August, MAZ won the competition for the supply of equipment on liquefied methane, Russian Liaz — for the supply of buses on a compressed natural gas. By the end of the year, the whole technique entered the park of the municipal carrier. In December, LNG MAZ-203945 buses went on the routes of the capital of the Southern Urals. Thus, the Minsk Automobile Plant first in the CIS countries organized mass production of passenger technology operating on liquefied methane.

The MAZ-203945 supplied to Chelyabinsk is the first model in the line of passenger equipment of the Minsk Automobile Plant, operating on a liquefied natural gas (methane). Instead of cylinders on the roof, the bus is equipped with a crystal, which is located in the rear breath.

It is worth noting that LiAZ has so far presented an experienced model. But at the holding «Bakulin Motors groups» (VOLGABUS brand), there are no similar machines at all. KAMAZ in September 2019 introduced the NEFAZ-5299-40-57 model at the «Comrtians» exhibition in Moscow, but this is still an experienced car, which is still to be tested, and then the certification procedure. Playing ahead, Minsk Automobile Plant received an advantage: when Chelyabinsk announced the tender not to supply buses on a liquefied natural gas, competitors simply did not have the required technique.

A few words about the LNG version of the MAZ-203945. Its main difference from the analogues operating on the compressed gas — the engine. If the German gas engine Mercedes-Benz M 906 LAG EEV / 1-02 (P6, a volume of 6883 cc is installed on the MAZ-203965 and MAZ-103965 (P6; EURO-5), then on MAZ-203945 — Chinese Gas Weichai WP7NG 280E51. This motor is also an inline 6-cylinder, with turbocharging and cooled air cooled, with a distributed gas injection and spark ignition. It has a working volume of 7470 ccm, develops the power of 270 hp, the maximum torque is 1100 nm and corresponds to the EURO-5 environmental standard.

Why not a German engine? The fact is that Mercedes-Benz takes off the production of gas engines of Euro-5 level, they will continue to produce only Euro-6. This is a rather complicated and expensive aggregate. At the same time, the Chinese are now leaders on gas engineering technology. At the same time their motors are cheaper. Therefore, if you want to win the tender, you need to put Chinese motors, Chinese cryobacles.

This also means Maz’s competitors. For example, restyled NEFAZ-5299-40-52 is equipped with WEICHAI WP7NG 260E51 motors, and the VOLGABUS «Sitimon» 12 GLE / GLF — YUCHAI YC6L280N-52 engines. Only Liaz continues to install engines exclusively Russian production (NMZ-53624 CNG).
